A Bird's Wish

A magnificent bird longs more than anything to become a mother. While the great tree around her fills with the chirping of chicks, the nest she shares with her devoted partner remains empty. After months of trying, she begins a series of medical tests and fertility treatments. Each procedure becomes more invasive, leaving visible marks on her body and slowly transforming the bird she once was. Yet she continues, sustained by hope and by her partner’s devotion. At last, an egg appears in their nest. As she waits for it to hatch, she must come to terms with everything the journey has taken from her – and with the life she has fought so hard to bring into the world.
