Westphalia around 1900. Hermann-Josef starts his service in House Kummerveldt. After graduating from servant’s school with top grades, he wants only one thing: to serve properly. The less he can be smelled, heard or seen, the better: that’s the Baron’s housekeeper Miss Racket’s rule.
Hermann-Josef teaches the housemaid Gabriele to read, because knowledge grows when it is shared. While helping the Baron dress, the two philosophize about masters and servants, and the Baron is surprised to realize that his servant is the more conservative of the two. The coachman Joachim instigates a fight. Then silverware is missing from the house, and suspicion falls on the newcomer. His honor seems to be lost. Of all people, Luise von Kummerveldt, the daughter of the house, offers him her help.
A spin-off of the series HAUS KUMMERVELDT.
