Their stilt houses are burned down, their boats destroyed: the Bajau Laut sea nomads off the coast of Borneo are marginalized as stateless people and can be displaced at any time. Yet they are the indigenous people of the region with a rich cultural heritage. During the filming, the government destroyed the last traditional stilt villages at sea.
A story of survival in four chapters: the loss of home and identity, the gradual process of adapting to mainstream society, and the commitment of grassroots movements that try to offer stateless children new perspectives through alternative schools at sea.
