In a small village in Finland that for the past two centuries has relied solely on metallurgical activities, the poet and writer Mika Lätti and his friend, director Aki Kaurismäki, construct their own cinema at an old foundry. With recycled wood, metal and used furniture, Kaurismäki and the residents of Karkkila jointly craft Cinema Laika. The venue is surrounded by Cadillacs, motorcycles, rock bars and the awe-inspiring beauty of nature, encapsulating the very essence of cinema’s enchantment – a place where magic resides in its profound capacity to instigate change.
