The film tells the story of 16-year-old Alex, who grows up in a conservative village in the 1990s. Under pressure from this authoritarian father and in search of a sense of belonging, he falls in love with Sibel, a Turkish classmate. Through her, a new world opens up to him, but so do new conflicts: Sibel is already being courted by Iskender.
Alex increasingly feels like a stranger in his old environment and is drawn to Iskender’s gang. In an attempt to impress Sibel, he starts exploring Islam – at first out of curiosity, later as a possible path toward a new identity. But the closer he gets to this new life, the more he risks losing himself.
